  1. If you run this program in less than 75MHz pentium, use '-p' switch!!

  3. Without that switch maplay raises its priority to timecritical, and gives
  4. time to other programs only when buffers are full. This means that IF YOUR
  5. MACHINE IS TOO SLOW, YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO INTERRUPT MAPLAY OR DO ANYTHING
  6. ELSE. While even this shouldn't crash your machine (maplay will exit once
  7. file is played), it may hang it for some time. And the sound you are hearing
  8. may be ... interesting.

  10. Maplay was tested on 75MHz pentium (works better without '-p' switch) and
  11. 120MHz pentium (works well even with '-p' switch). It should be able to run
  12. faster 486s in mono mode (use '-l' or '-r' switch). Both machines had GUS.
  13. I have also got a report, that it works on soundblaster-16 after installing
  14. newer drivers (see README.OS2).

  16. Maplay for OS/2 needs MMPM to be installed and an audio card capable of
  17. 44.1kHz 16 bit output. Also you may need emx runtime libraries
  18. (ftp://ftp.leo.org/pub/comp/os/os2/02-emx-runtime.zip) if you don't have
  19. them already.
